We are excited to announce the appointment of Veterquimica S.A. as the new distributor for AQUI-S products in Chile. Veterquimica S.A. has more than 45 years experience in the market and has business branches in Animal Health, Animal Nutrition, Hygiene and Biosecurity, and Service Laboratory. Bathing salmon in fresh water is a commercially important tool for the control of various diseases including Sea Lice and Amoebic gill disease (AGD). These treatment operations are well known to be stressful to the fish which in turn causes significant quality issues during and post-treatment. A recent study conducted in Norway has further hilighted exactly how stressful these proceedures are in terms of cortisol release. Disease treatments in aquaculture have become a frequent and essential part of production. In the salmon industry the frequency of treatments has increased whilst the effectiveness, in most cases, has reduced. This is leading to higher costs associated with the practice and higher mortalities.
Over the last 12 months AQUI-S New Zealand Ltd (AQNZ), together with its distributor in Norway, ScanVacc, have been working closely with customers to investigate the benefit of AQUI-S® sedation during conventional Sea Lice and AGD treatments in cages and well boats. Based on customer feedback AQUI-S® sedation is giving greater safety margins, improved water quality and reduced mortality.

Ross’s experience in veterinary pharmaceutical manufacturing spans 30 years and includes large and small-scale media prep for bacterial vaccines, adjuvant manufacture, and production of pharmaceutical ingredients to cGMP standards. As Production Supervisor Ross takes responsibility for the production floor from active ingredient manufacture to final product formulation.

Rob joined AQUI-S New Zealand Ltd in August 2016 as Laboratory Supervisor. He brings to the team 23 years’ experience in pharmaceutical vaccine manufacture. He is skilled in analytical procedures and standard microbiological techniques, and has experience with a wide variety of instrumentation techniques.

Jessie Bird - MBmedScProcess Chemist Jessie is involved in developmental research, she is working on a new manufacturing process for an alternative active ingredient for use in AQUI-S® anaesthetics. She has experience in synthetic organic chemistry, having completed her Masters degree in this area.
